کتاب Lady Midnight، اولین کتاب از مجموعه «اختراعات تاریک» (The Dark Artifices) است. که در سال 2016 منتشر شد. و باعث ادامه سلطنت «کاساندرا کلر» به‌عنوان ملکه فانتزی شهری شد. بانوی نیمه‌شب در ژانر فانتزی و به صورت دقیق‌تر یک فانتزی شهری است. که برای نوجوانان نوشته شده است. این کتاب که پس از دو مجموعه کتاب زبان اصلی قبلی این نویسنده یعنی مجموعه‌های ابزار فانی (The Mortal Instruments) و دستگاه‌های جهنمی (The Infernal Devices) به انتشار رسیده است . کتاب «بانوی نیمه شب»، که پس از انتشار خود چند هفته در لیست کتاب‌های پرفروش USAToday قرار داشت. در دنیای شکارچیان سایه واقع شده که دنیایی مخفی است. که موجودات افسانه‌ای و اسطوره‌ای در کنار انسان‌های معمولی زندگی می‌کنند و همیشه با هم یا با انسان‌ها درگیری دارند.
